20 Best Travel Books

On the Road

Travels with Charley

The Sun Also Rises

Just found this old list of “The 20 Best Travel Books of All Time” published by the Telegraph last year. Sadly, I’ve only read three. The ones pictured, to be exact. But I think I’ll put a few on my shelfari. Any suggestions?

  1. Great list of travel books, thanks. Here’s a few more I can recommend:

‘Golden Earth” by Norman Lewis (an account of 3 months traveling in Burma/Myanmar in the 1950’s)

‘The Snow Leopard” by Peter Mathieson (documents a journey thru a remote area of Nepal in 1973 and is also full of insight into Buddhism)

“In a Sunburned Country’ by Bill Byrson ( another very funny Bryson classic, this time about Australia).

‘Venture to the Interior” by Laurens van der Post (travels in Africa in the early 1950’s, considered a classic)
