My first *Green House Tour* went up on Apartment Therapy Re-Nest today! I had such a great time working on the project and am excited to get started on my next one. It was a joy to meet Bernee, Dado, and their adorable daughter Kezia. They are such a sweet family with a fabulous sense of style. Check out my feature “Bernee & Dado’s Cheery Oakland Hideaway” to get a glimpse inside their lovely home (Bernee’s studio – in a converted garage – is amazing!) From the turn of the 20th century through the 1920s, French designer and author E.A. Seguy created a wondrous collection of colorful illustrations inspired by the natural world.

Seguy created bold, vivid images of butterflies, insects, flowers, and crystals through a technique called pochoir, which utilizes stencils as a guide for carefully adorning an image with layers of brilliant color.

A major figure in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements, Seguy’s intent was to create a record of exotic specimens which decorative arts designers would draw inspiration from when creating their own work. They sure inspire me…
