Not only did Orlando designer Anna Melcon plan her wedding in just over three months, she created so many unique little elements for the ceremony and reception, herself. The adorable image above is her wedding invitation, which she illustrated. Check out her other illustrations (great baby gifts), and then read about the paper-forest centerpieces she crafted by hand, the “pinata hitting” that took the place of a traditional cake cutting, and the fruit stand favors, at Brooklyn Bride.

German Postage Stamps
Today I learned that you can order postage stamps online in Germany. Ordering postage stamps online is one of my favorite things to do, and I did this often when I was back home in the States, so you can imagine my delight.
It’s incredibly expensive to mail anything to the US from Germany. A postcard costs €1 and a letter, €1,70! So I bought these cute €1 stamps that celebrate the 150th birthday of Swedish author Selma Lagerlöf with an illustration by the German artist Wilhelm Schulz. The image depicts a scene from one of Lagerlöf’s best known works, a children’s book called The Wonderful Adventures of Nils, published in 1906. Three years later she became the first female writer to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.
E.A. Seguy’s Pochoir Butterflies
From the turn of the 20th century through the 1920s, French designer and author E.A. Seguy created a wondrous collection of colorful illustrations inspired by the natural world.
Seguy created bold, vivid images of butterflies, insects, flowers, and crystals through a technique called pochoir, which utilizes stencils as a guide for carefully adorning an image with layers of brilliant color.
A major figure in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements, Seguy’s intent was to create a record of exotic specimens which decorative arts designers would draw inspiration from when creating their own work. They sure inspire me…
